We caught up with Mr. Bereola prior to the release of the book and picked his brain for tips and tidbits that you may or may not find in the book. Not that I need it or anything, it’s for you guys remember…….

EB: Bereolaesque is the sexiest adjective that can be used to describe any noun. It supersedes overly-used expressions like swagger and fly. It is defined as highly appealing to the human senses or mind; providing pleasure or delight, especially in appearance or manner; pleasing; charming; alluring; attractive!

You can’t beat that …

What inspired you to write a book for men?

EB: Simply because we need it! Let’s be frank, a lot of men just don’t know how to act. We don’t know the who’s, what’s, where’s, why’s, when’s, or how’s and are too embarrassed to ask. The answers to these questions can mean the difference between a quality life and an early death!

I’m inspired by news headlines of murders perpetuated by young men. I’m inspired by the male prison rate. I’m inspired by domestic violence. I’m inspired by sagging pants and drug addictions. Inspiration is rooted in the negative when yearning to see change; and inspiration is rooted in the positive when change has come — I’m inspired by my President of The United States, Barack Obama!

Bereolaesque: The Contemporary Gentleman & Etiquette book for the Urban Sophisticate makes having manners and etiquette simple & makes it sexy.

Tell me about a time when you were in need of proper social etiquette. When did you find out there was an art to attracting women?

EB: I could always manage to get a date or 2, but I learned the art of it when I was on a date attempting to impress an older woman (yes, a cougar). I ordered a bottle of wine and an exquisite meal. We made a toast to the sexy life and I clinked our wine glasses. It was all downhill from here – my date informed me that you only chime crystal glasses when making a toast – this is when my nerves set in & my social graces & etiquette were compromised.

I was so nervous, I forgot to be the aggressor and order her food, I wasn’t eating with the correct fork, and I got so carried away ordering stuff that I ran out of money. I played it well & she didn’t see me sweat but I was a nervous wreck!

If you can trip & fall in front of someone without them taking notice, you’re pretty damn bereolaesque!

Can this Art be applied to approaching to women online or on social networks?

EB: But of course! Social networking needs an entire set of rules [in itself]. People hide behind their computer screens and say things they would never say in person.

Your approach to women online should be no different from your approach to women in person …. respectful to say the least. The internet makes things less tense and more casual, so honestly it should be easier for a contemporary gentleman to make a good impression on the world wide web.

In the era of “Bling” and accessories, is there still a need for honest game?

EB: Honesty is always and will remain the best policy … It’s biblical! I don’t like to argue with God – I always lose.

Which celebrity would you say is the most Bereolaesque? the Least?

EB: Two of the most are Jay-Z and President Obama. Jay because he’s the unconventional bereolaesque – if you’ve taken notice to him lately, his look has been kind of rugged – so much so that he doesn’t even cut or style his hair. Yet and still, the brother manages to keep it bereolaesque. He proves that his confidence, style, and the essence of who he is transcends his exterior.

President Obama for obvious reasons. He completely embodies what Bereolaesque is. He manages to mix intelligence, style, cool, sophistication, wit, charisma, humor, power, leadership, humility, and loyalty all in one package.

As far as the least, it’s a tie between Flavor Flav and Sponge Bob Square Pants.

What is the difference between being Sexy and Attractive?

EB: It’s easy to be sexy because sexy can be created – it’s difficult to be attractive because you’re born that way.

In populated cities like NYC, where there is more competition, what advice would you give men in order to succeed with women?

EB: Stand out! Be confident … confidence is universally sexy! Be different, be edgy, be professional, be affluent, be progressive, be relevant, be cultured, be sexy, be bereolaesque! Chivalry is free, and it gets the girl.

- If you’re wearing a t-shirt and jeans, make sure you’re wearing it better than the man wearing the 3-piece suit with wing-tip shoes. If you’re wearing the 3-piece suit with wing-tip shoes, make sure you wear it better than the man in the Tom Ford tuxedo.

-Increase the amount of bespoke suits in your closet
