Forty and Feisty!

This years NYC Pride Parade commemorated 40 years since a brawl in a west village bar gave birth to a powerful movement for gay rights in the United States.

The StoneWall riots which erupted after a police raid on a gay bar, the Stonewall Inn on Christopher St., in 1969. The riots which spawned the gay-rights movement have since been replaced with peaceful marches and lobbying.

This weekend’s NYC Pride Parade was blessed with beautiful weather and beautiful people. Gov. David Paterson marched in the parade. He says he’s hopeful the state will pass legislation legalizing same-sex marriage.

Pictures from the parade will be uploaded during the course of the day.
