Queens Night Out

If you are a little weary of the Manhattan nightclub scene, switching it up with a dose of Queens may be just the remedy. If you are at a lost at where to start, try checking out these local favorites from around the borough.

Tropix Lounge
95-32 Queens Blvd. Rego Park
www.tropixny.com

A block away from the 63rd Drive stop on the G, R, or V (well the G only in theory), Tropix is easy to get to from almost anywhere in the city. Weekday afternoons are home to the after work/ neighborhood crowd while the bartenders blast whatever they feel like over the speakers. But the heat turns up a little on the weekends as the dance floor comes alive with an energetic mix of salsa and meringue. With a mature, fun and unpretentious patronage, everyone can feel welcome in this Tropical themed hideaway. Plus its home to the annual Miss Tropix contest every summer!

Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden

29-19 24th Ave. Astoria
www.bohemianhall.com

Now if you really want to think outside the box, then Bohemian Hall is your place. This Czech cultural center/ bar is pretty sleepy in the winter months, but as soon as spring comes around the empty back lot is transformed into a real European style beer garden. A local legend, you will find folks from all walks of life cooling out on the picnic tables and downing unpronounceable pints. Its best to hit this place with a medium to large group, but if you go alone you may just find yourself unwillingly recruited into a drinking session by complete strangers. The open atmosphere, shared tables, permanent bratwurst barbecue and occasional polka band make this a must do for residents of any borough.

Lemontree Lounge
80-12 51st Ave. Elmhurst

With a diverse crowd and music that scratches between hip-hop, reggaeton and techno, Lemontree offers something for everyone. The dance floor is a little small, but the space offers a huge lounge area plus an outdoor patio in the backing for smoking or just kicking on a warm summer night. Its a little walk from Grand Ave. stop on the R or V.

Hey, we’re not done yet. Keep checking back for more hot spots all over the five boroughs!
